Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people's health at risk. So the law requires employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill healh. See COSHH data sheet.
GMS UK Ltd, is assessing safeguard standards set out by the HSE, and what need to to do (Step-by-step approach) with safeguard checklist such as:
- Interlocked guards prevent motion at production speed when raised.
- Cams on interlocking guards have not moved out of adjustment.
- Trip nip and fixed nip bars are adjusted to within 6mm of the cylinder surface.
Working together for the environment
GMS UK Ltd are now using trigger sprays rather than aerosol cans. Carbon dioxide, propane, and butane are commonly used aerosol propellants. These are 'Greenhouse gases' that contribute to global warming and smog formation.
Trigger sprays are plastic and metal hand pump bottles. Refillable metal bottles more closely resemble aerosol cans in terms of their design and performance.
